Prey Nup (PN)

Prey Nup poldersPrey Nup scheme / Polders User Community (PUC):

  • Preah Sihanouk province
  • Prey Nup district
  • Originally built during  French colonization in 1930's and rebuilt during Pol Pot regime
  • Rehabilitated by MOWRAM with AFD funding from 1999-2007
  • Polders, system of dykes preventing sea water intrusion and canals for drainage
  • FWUC creation in 2000 with GRET - CEDAC support
  • Protected area: 10,492 ha
  • Number of farmers: 6,385 families
  • MoU signed with MOWRAM in 2008
  • ISF = 46,000 riels / ha (in 2009)

Nowadays, PUC is certainly the best performing FWUC in Cambodia. The FWUC committee is supported by a professionnal team and manage a budget about $100,000.

ISC signed 2 service contracts with the Prey Nup Polders User Community in Preah Sihanouk Province.

  • Contract 1: Training for election (Nov-2009)
  • Contract 2: Financial audit for the years 2009-10 (Jul-2011)
